Krissy was introduced to pole dancing after a friend attended a few classes at Divine Movement and told her what a fun workout pole was. She started with Boudoir 101 in March of 2011 and was hooked after her first class. Divine Movement allowed Krissy to really breathe and rediscover her true self through movement and music. Krissy has a dance background from high school and college, but didn’t return to it for almost a decade until she discovered her love for pole dancing. She is excited to share her passion of movement and hopes that other women are able to feel the empowering confidence pole dancing brings.
What do you consider your teaching style?
Encouraging, supportive, responsive, nurturing.
What music is on your “Divine” playlist right now?
I could go on and on…I love playing DJ, but here’s a good little mix: Climbing Up the Walls (Fila Brazilia Unreleased Remix) by Radiohead, Baby by Wyclef Jean, Exogenesis: Symphony Part 1 by Muse, Time from the Inception Soundtrack, Meant by Elizaveta, Forever by Ben Harper, Sweet Disposition by Ellie Goulding, Give Us A Little Love by Fallulah, Hannah Hunt by Vampire Weekend
Thai food…although I’m a wimp and can’t do the spicy stuff. I love pineapple fried rice and swimming rama/rama noodles.
What is the farthest you have been from home?
Looks like I need to travel a bit more, but I have been fortunate enough to travel quite a few places across North America (New York, Hawaii, Mazatlan, Vegas, British Columbia, etc…) After looking at all of the places I’ve been, St. Petersburg, Florida is the furthest I’ve been from home.
When was the last time you cried?
At my wedding on 8/24/13. What an amazing and special day! I knew I’d be emotional and cry (because I’m pretty easy to cry), but really I had no idea how hard it would be to contain those joyous tears.
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a doctor or a teacher because I always wanted to help people.
I say sweets, but my husband says it’s ‘Twilight.’ We’re both right. I love sweets…they are my weakness. Baked goods, chocolate, candy…yum! If there are sweets around, I’ll be eating them. On the other hand, I think my husband’s answer is definitely correct because even as I am typing this, I feel a little embarrassed to admit that I’ve seen ALL of the Twilight movies and read ALL of the Twilight books.
Favorite article of clothing to dance in?
I’m really loving how it feels to dance in pants now. I love being able to slide and crawl across the floor. It feels so natural and primal.
“The truest expression of a people is in its dance and in its music. Bodies never lie.” ~Agnes de Mille and “Curve – the loveliest distance between two points.” ~Mae West
